SOAP MAKING INGREDIENTS Le Fleur Cottage Soaps:
Soap Drying Period and Process – All of my soap bars cure for at least 4-6 weeks to produce a wonderful long lasting soap bar, still containing all of it's wonderful and natural glycerin! My handmade natural soap is made using the cold process method and made in small batches! Le Naturelle Soap Bar - Is an all natural, unscented soap bar containing only the following oils and dried herb: Olive oil, Palm oil, Palm Kernel oil, Coconut oil, Apricot Kernel oil and a touch of Organic Chamomile. Palm Oil – This oil comes from the oil palm tree and is made from the pulp of the fruit. Palm oil assists in making a nice harder bar of soap and its contributions of firmness will make a bar of handmade soap last much longer and will not just melt away. This oil cleans very well and yet is very mild to the skin. Vitamin E - A very nice and rich oil that contains properties that act as a natural antioxidant in handmade soap. Used in all soap bars. Coconut Oil – Is obtained from dried coconut meat. It has great lathering and moisturizing properties and is an important component in soap. Too much coconut oil can be drying to the skin so it is important to balance this wonderful oil with other terrific moisturizing oils to have a good soap recipe. Palm Kernel Oil – The kernels of the African oil palm trees bear fruit and that is used to make palm oil. Palm Kernel oil assists in making a harder bar of soap and also assists in making a beautiful lather. Apricot Kernel Oil – Is a wonderful moisturizing oil as well as a skin softener and is used often in making bath oils which makes it a great addition to soap. The moisturizing properties of Apricot Kernel oil is just a little higher than that of Sweet Almond oil and is used in most recipes because some people are allergic to nuts. This natural oil is easily absorbed in the skin. Bee Wax – Bee Wax is a true gift from nature. Bee Wax adds hardness to a bar of soap, yet also provides a protective layer on your skin. It protects our skin from losing moisture too quickly. Used in our non-vegan soap bars. Olive Oil – I use 100% Pure Olive oil. Together, these are the best grades of olive oil to use in making handmade soap. Olive oil is a very good moisturizer because it attracts external moisture and holds the moisture close to the skin. It allows our skin to continue to do the necessary functions such as breathe and sweat while assisting our skin to retain moisture and heal at the same time. Distilled/Mineral Water – Only distilled/mineral water is used making my natural soap bars, not regular tap water. Regular tap water may and usually does contain iron and other mineral deposits that actually become hard particles during the soap making process. Organic Herbs & Dried Ingredients – Are used as natural colorants and contribute wonderful properties to handmade soap. Many of the flowers and herbs that are used are naturally grown in my own flower beds. The following ingredients are used in various soap bars: organically grown Mint, Thyme, Chamomile flowers, Rose Petals, Calendula Petals, Carnation, Peony, Hydrangea petals and Lavender. Oatmeal, Goat Milk, Honey, Wheat Bran Flakes, Green Tea and Patchouli are other wonderful soap additions! Natural Color Pigments – Only natural color pigments that are of cosmetic grade and approved safe for soap making are used in coloring soap. My philosophy is less is better, so color swirls from color pigment, embedded colored soap, wheat bran flakes or organically grown flower petals/herbs are mostly used for adding interest to an already great bar of soap! Goat Milk – A great luxurious addition to any bar of soap and can be found in our oatmeal milk and honey soap. Only goat milk is used when using a milk product in my handmade soap bars. Essential Oils & Fragrance Oils – Only the finest grade of natural essential oils and fragrance oils that are approved safe for cosmetics and soap making are used. |
